My trip to shopping for Ciao markers was quite fun. We went to a local Curry's store looking for the 36 sets, they just happen to have the C set I was looking for so I was really excited. Then the cashier told me that there was a local newspaper ad from Curry's about saving $10 for every $50 you spend, so me and my friend end up hunting the streets for the free daily. We were running around like crazy people lol. Then we found it, just two copies left of that week's paper (just the number I need). So we went back, and got my purchase discounted. So a Copic Ciao C set that would have original cost me $130.50 was now $110.50, that's 3 bucks per mark instead of the usual $3.60...I'm not counting tax though, Canadian tax sucks but it's life what can I do? I suppose I could have gotten it online but after US/CAD conversion and shipping+handling, I don't suppose it's actually worth the wait.
But if anyone's interested in buying Copic, I do highly recommend Ciao instead of Sketch for the colours that are available. They are a lot cheaper plus with refills, they will last you a while. There's really not much point of going for the more expensive Sketch option unless you really need air brush. I have both Sketch and Ciao so I can tell you that there is no difference in their performance besides less ink in Ciao.
Also, if you happen to be a Torontonian local, you can buy Copic markers at the following stores:
Aboveground: Carries Sketch sets, Sketch individual, Original, and Wide. 10% discount with student id.
Midoco: Carries Ciao individual, set, and refill. Have a few Sketch. I'm not sure if they give discount for students, but their baseline pricing is a little higher than both Aboveground and Curry's. However, they do sell Copic marker plastic boxes (36 and 72) if you need it for organization
Curry's: Carries Ciao set, individual, and refill. Give 10% discount with student id.
